Manitoba Government Announces Completion of StandardAero’s Winnipeg Facility Expansion

September 3, 2026

The Manitoba government is celebrating the completion of StandardAero’s expanded maintenance facility in Winnipeg that was supported by a $3-million provincial investment and will strengthen Manitoba’s position as a leader in the aerospace industry by supporting economic growth, increasing capacity and creating good jobs, Business, Mining, Trade and Job Creation Minister Jamie Moses announced today.

“The aerospace industry has long been a cornerstone of Manitoba’s economy and an important part of who we are as a province,” said Moses. “The completed expansion in the aerospace sector will create good jobs for Manitoba workers and increase our provincial exports. Our government will continue making strategic investments that strengthen our economy and help ensure Manitoba’s aerospace sector remains competitive for years to come.”

The expansion adds approximately 70,000 sq.-ft. to StandardAero’s Winnipeg facility, increasing its overall footprint by nearly 40 per cent. The additional space will provide greater maintenance capacity and support work on the GE Aerospace CF34-3/8 and CFM International CFM56-7B engines, which power some of the world’s most widely used commercial and military aircraft. The project will enable the facility to take on a greater volume and variety of work, further enhancing Manitoba’s aerospace capabilities.

“The Manitoba government’s $3-million investment in our expansion project strengthens the foundation StandardAero has built in Winnipeg for more than a century,” said Peter Wheatley, vice-president and general manager, CF34/CFM56 at StandardAero. “Our new, larger facility is central to how we support the CF34 and CFM56 programs that power some of the world’s most widely flown aircraft. The space gives our team more capacity to deliver world-class MRO work for our customers here in Canada and throughout the globe. We’re proud to keep growing StandardAero’s presence right here where our company was founded.”

The expansion reinforces Manitoba’s reputation as one of Canada’s leading aerospace hubs and demonstrates the province’s continued growth as a destination for advanced manufacturing and aerospace innovation, the minister said.
