MB Aerospace Events
Aerospace Week
Each year, during Aerospace Week, we celebrate the success and the future of our industry. Starting with the Minister’s proclamation at Aerospace and Aviation in Manitoba (AAiM) Day, the week includes a range of activities to celebrate the industry, inform and engage the public, and encourage students to study Science, Technology Engineering and Math (STEM) subjects.
Aerospace & Aviation in Manitoba (AAiM) Day
Every year, since 2007, approximately 700 Grade 6 students have participated in AAiM Day which is held at Red River College’s Stevenson Campus. The day’s activities are designed to reinforce for the students and their teachers the concepts they are learning in the Flight module of the grade six science curriculum. The event also introduces the participants to the city’s thriving aerospace, defence and aviation industries and the permanent pathways to these careers.
Manitoba Aerospace All-Stars Awards Dinner
The sector celebrates the success of our industry and recognizes excellence in the aerospace community at the Aerospace All-Stars Awards Dinner. The event is also an important fund raiser, with net proceeds going to the Manitoba Aerospace Student Awards Endowment Fund.
Manitoba Aerospace Golf Tournament
Manitoba Aerospace hosts an annual golf tournament to support the Manitoba Aerospace Student Endowment Fund. The event provides excellent networking; fresh air and exercise; and a fun day of golf while helping secondary and post-secondary students to complete their education and find rewarding careers in the aerospace industry.
Monday Night H.I.R.E.D. @ U of M
Manitoba Aerospace hosts an annual H.I.R.E.D. night at the University of Manitoba’s Faculty of Engineering. H.I.R.E.D. (Helping Industry Reach Engineering Directly) provides employers with the opportunity to speak to students about their company, share personal insights about the industry and the careers it offers, and to discuss employment opportunities.
Industry-Student Meet & Greet
Following the employer presentations at the H.I.R.E.D event, the University of Manitoba Engineering Student Teams host a meet and greet reception, providing a great opportunity for students to meet with engineers on a one to one basis. Students are able to make contacts and practice networking and industry representatives get to engage socially with perspective employees. Refreshments are served throughout the event.
